Prague / Czech Republic / Europe. For me it’s simply a must-see to get to know the capital cities in our neighbouring countries. On the one hand, because these places are so close to our home base and therefore easy to reach and on the other hand it’s a bit a shame and a cultural – point, that you don’t even know them. So I was in prague with my husband and we decided for our best travel season the november aaand we didn’t get disappointed. The colours and the landscape is still beautiful, the city not so crowed anymore and also the mulled wine time has already started 🙂 All in all just the perfect time to spend a weekend in prague. My honey and I, we also love the fascinating architecture of the K&K monarchy. Naturally you can find them all over the city. Another typically part of prague is the good old tram – definitely a drive worth 🙂
Still one of the highlights is the beautiful style of the city, especially at sunrise or sunset, the light shines colourful and the city turns into a stunning colour spectacle. Perfect to view this, when you stroll around through the small little streets or enjoy a drink at one of the different bars. Prague is for me one of the most beautiful cities in europe and this city trip is definitely under my top five. Did you know that praha is also called the golden city? It’ also a political, cultural and economic centre of central europe complete with a rich history. Founded during the romanesque and flourishing by the gothic, renaissance and baroque eras. prague was the capital of the kingdom of bohemia and the main residence of serval holy roman emperors. Also important was the city to the habsburg monarchy and its austro-hungarian empire. Prague is also included in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites.
Well, as you know, we live in austria so prague was for us just a few hours away, therefore we drove by car. You’ve also a lot of other opportunities how you can get there: by bus (from other main cities in europe with direct lines) or by flight. Even our hotel was really cheap, we stayed at the penta hotel. Some of you may know that I’ve a weakness for a bit different, modern or boutique hotels. If you also like this way of travel, then you’re definitely right with this hotel 🙂 We leaved the whole weekend our car at the hotel and we did all sightseeings and strolls on foot. All important buildings and places are easy to reach. It depends on how much you wanna visit, but if you’re interested in museums or more, you can also take the prague card to get lower prices and use also the free entrees.
Secondary to all these impressions the food and also the famous tredlnik is so yummy, you must even try it. Find now my top five sightseeings, which you must definitely visit in prague:
the charles bridge – also the bridge is a little highlight but you can top your visit there, when you walk over it by sunset. This flair is so so unique and special, you’ll love it. Also the street lights are still lit by night watch, the lights in combination with the sunrise as such a romantic atmosphere. Travel tip: you can move at the old town bridge tower to the top of it, so you’ve a stunning view over the city and naturally the charles bridge.
dancing house – this building is so famous, even if you go there, you’ll find on the top a cafe and also a restaurant. Here you’ve also an awesome view over the city, you can enjoy them with a drink or coffee 🙂
prague castle – also perfect for a sunday walk and a visit there. you’ll see over a few parts of the city and even the buildings are really interesting.
old town square – from the charles bridge you’re in a few minutes at the old town square, arrived there, you must try a typical czech beer. But this is not all, there you also find the famous prague astronomical clock with something special at every full hour 😉 at the square there’re also a lot of street artists with funny things.
old town – I just looved the mood and the atmosphere there, it’s so colourful, awesome but it has his own special flair. You’ll definitely love it.
